Services
I offer practice-led support for artists, studios, schools, and institutions working with printmaking—covering press operation, workflow design, and production standards. Services are structured to support professional studio practice, institutional programmes, and project-based needs.
1) Press Training and Induction
For artists, teachers, technicians, and studio staff who need to operate a press safely and consistently.
Includes:
-
Press safety and operating procedure (setup, pressure, packing logic)
-
Troubleshooting common printing issues (uneven pressure, slur, embossing, offset)
-
Cleaning and shutdown protocols
-
Care of blankets/felts, registration materials, and studio handling
Formats:
-
Short induction (individual or small group)
-
Staff/teacher training (schools and studios)
-
Refresher / troubleshooting session (existing users)
2) Studio Setup and Workflow Advice
Practical planning for spaces that want a functional, maintainable print workflow.
Includes:
-
Workflow planning (proofing, drying, storage, handling)
-
Equipment and tooling recommendations
-
Press-room layout advice (safe circulation, staging zones, storage)
-
Setup of basic operating standards for consistent use
3) SOP and Maintenance Standards
A structured, written set of studio standards designed for continuity and staff handover.
Deliverables may include:
-
Daily/weekly/monthly care checklist
-
Lubrication and cleaning schedule
-
Blanket/felt handling and storage protocol
-
Troubleshooting guide for recurring problems
-
Documentation template (proof log / press sheet)
4) Workshops, Demonstrations, and Private Classes
Practice-led sessions for institutions, community groups, and individuals. Sessions can be tailored for beginners, intermediate printmakers, or artists preparing an edition.
Formats (private / group / institutional):
-
Private classes (1-to-1): focused guidance on carving, inking, printing, and developing a body of work
-
Small group classes: practical sessions for friends, collectives, or studio groups
-
Institutional workshops / public demonstrations: programmes for schools, arts organisations, and exhibition activations
Possible topics:
-
Relief / woodcut fundamentals: tools, safe carving habits, image planning, inking, and hand-printing
-
Proofing & edition discipline: how to plan proofs, test pressure and packing, refine an image through states, and produce a consistent limited edition (including signing/numbering and documentation)
-
Large-format printing workflow: strategies for printing bigger blocks and sheets—registration, paper handling, drying, and maintaining even pressure across a large surface
-
Live printing demonstration: a public session showing the full printing sequence (inking, pressure setup, proof pull, and discussion)
Education engagements may include school-based programmes such as AISS (Artist-in-School Scheme), depending on project requirements and scheduling.
5) Production Support and Editioning (Project-Based)
Available on a limited basis for projects requiring structured proofing, registration planning, and printing workflow support.
Support may include:
-
Proof strategy and edition planning
-
Registration and packing tests
-
Printing supervision and quality control
-
Process documentation (press sheet / proof states)
6) Commissions
Commissions are considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to fit with my practice, feasibility, and timeline. I am most interested in projects with a clear public, educational, or community-facing context. Private commissions may be considered where there is strong alignment with my ongoing work.

Notes
For heavy equipment transport/rigging, I can advise on planning and workflow, but physical moving should be handled by professional movers/riggers.
